We arrived and it was raining windy and cold. Out came the Fleece jackets, boots, socks, woolly hats you name it we wore it.
We did the usual thing of sailing under the Harbour Bridge and a tour of the Opera House. It was nice to get out of the rain. We watched as 3 different just married couples tried to shelter from the rain to get that spectacular shot of them with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the background. Just doesn't look the same with loads of golfing umbrellas in the picture! Sadly our photos didn't come out that brilliant either! No that doesn't mean we were one of those couples! You can't see the Opera House for the cloud.

Our next stop was Wollongong which is 70 kms south of the City. There we stayed with Jono, a lovely friend we made whilst on the Darwin to Alice trip. Jono managed to arrange a spectacular cyclone on that day too. We have great video footage of us clearing branches that blocked the road as we drove our way round fallen trees, electricity and telephone pylons to reach the highest point at Saddleback Mountain.
Thank you for that Jono. We owe you a Cyclone when you come to England!!

Leaving Sydney bound for Melbourne proved difficult as the rail tracks and main roads had to be cleared so we were forced to stop on route at the capital Canberra. We made the most of our day there by visiting Parliament House and the High Court. All very intellectual stuff, how did they let us in we hear you asking?
