Today, after running some errands (post office and sorting out our busses to Thailand for tomorrow) we explored Georgetown. Georgetown is a colonial town and described by the guide books as 'facinating'. I thought we may have missed the fascinating parts but looking at the guide book we seemed to see most of them! Not a hugely exciting place but the 'normal' China town with its temples and street food, and a little India (ditto). We couldn't resist a beer in the 'Soho Pub' which could have been transported from anywhere in the U.K - what tourists!  We leave from here tomorrow to Thailand - Charlie to the East Coast and me to the West.

In the evening we went out for dinner (very hot and sour Tom Yam Soup - nice once you got used to the burning!) to the same place we'd had breakfast and then to the Hong Kong Bar, which the lonely planet warns you not to do if the Navy are in town - fortunately they weren't. But the Aussie RAF was and were trying to make a party of as many westerners as possible.  We joined them for a few beers and went to the curry house with them for some Roti - gorgeous, and then another beer before a relatively early night!
