waking up on the morning of August 11 we WERE READY for some ACTION. see ya later Tortuga Feliz, HELLO electricity, candy, and a few too many nice cold cervesas. having only two days to play before our next volunteer project we headed down the Carribean coast to Cahuita. SMALL beach town with a STRONG jamaican influence. when passing by you could blink and miss the town.

dreads on 2 out of 3. buildings are painted basically in only three colors. green. yellow. black. raggae music is pumped from every place of business. received lots of "no worries mon". the park is the center of all the action and the heartbeat of the town. people young and old can be found there catching up, playing games and hussling.

found ourselves a nice little hostel on the beach, check. showered and looked in a mirror for the first time in seven days, check. feelin like a lady again, check. jams turned up and beer cracked, check. check.

we were not only celebrating our FREEDOM from Tortuga's killer nightly patrols, 1000 mosquitos and the over-the-top seaturtle lovin company BUT little bro turns SEVENTEEN and being the BOSS. older mentors that we are, we wanted to show Sam how to get loose. strictly teaching him proper bar etiquette of course.

Cahuita being a two block town came alive at night. lots of street dancing. and apparently perfectly normal for Scott to graciously teach his new BFF crack head, Tony, how to dougie in the middle of the main intersection. played a few rounds of dominos in the park with the locals and eventually made our way into the one place in town with a dance scene, Coco's Bar and Grill to teach Sam the ropes. LESSON ONE--sorry little bro although it sounds like a good idea, you can't buy a beer on credit. if you are giving the bartender extra money it means its a tip. nice try. HA!

while at La Tortuga Feliz we made friends with three Italian girls and they travelled with us to Cahuita. turns out they were ALL THREE crushin on Sam and were very much looking forward to helping us celebrate this birthday. it was nice to have familiar faces to enjoy the evening with. we spent the night wiggling on the dance floor, might have even found myself in a dance off with a local before calling it a night.

day two was consumed with errands. emails. blog. bus tickets. snack purchases for next day road trip, i FOUND CRUNCHY PEANUT BUTTER. whoo. whoo. whoo. had a nice dinner and then called it an early night.

Fun Facts:
-empanadas cost us a $1 and were DELICIOSO!
-Costa Rica is not made for people 6 feet and above
-it is common practice to pull out your boob, nipple and all to feed your baby in any type of scenario. over packed bus ride. hostel reception desk.
Cahuita flea market consists of THREE small booths. standard jewelery table. painted driftwood of beach scenes and bob marley. sandles.
people seem to think the synonym for Cahuita is cute.
spanish to english translation dictionary is our SURVIVAL! thank you Robert!
