Show trip route
We enjoyed the bird show with a wayward white pelican who went into the Canyon (as they do sometimes) and came out at Lake Mead. What a rafting trip he must have been on! Next, the Imax which was pretty cool albeit slightly nauseating, then onto the south rim itself where we took lots of pictures and marveled at this creation. We left by the eastern side so were able to follow the Canyon along the way.
Someone recommended that we stop for lunch at the Trading Post which has a restaurant serving Mexican Tacos
We arrived in Sedona late that night because our lunch at the Trading Post turned into dinner. Next morning we woke up to the red rocks and canyons of Sedona. It is beautiful and we wanted to see more so took a pink jeep tour to the desert. We bounced and bounced and bounced but loved it despite the toll on our backs and stomach muscles.
Unfortunately we had to leave Sedona that afternoon and make our way back to Phoenix because we had to part with Bubba Saturday morning. We knew there was lots of work in front of us that night with the unloading and organizing of all that crap that was in Bubba. So, what happens, the AC in Bubba's cab goes out. Sweating in Phoenix at about 100 degrees, we made it to the DJ Hilton, unloaded the sucker and jumped into the pool!
Next morning, more Bubba cleaning and we had him bright and shiny to return. We miss him already and he was a faithful steed, although somewhat of a rattle trap
We next enjoyed another adventure in the desert heat – Taliesin West, the western, winter home of Frank Lloyd Wright. Such a genius with his ideas and passions but even he was smart enough not to live there in the summer.
Another evening of organizing and packing, vegging in the pool and drinks. It has been glorious to have the DJ Hilton to spread out and get packed. At this moment, we are all at the pool, again, and feeling pretty damn good about being all packed up and ready to leave on Monday. Only problem is DJ is not here to play with us. She is visiting family in New York.
Leaving Bubba behind, the Babes want to say thanks again to driver Babe Linda, who brought us back alive. Yes, Linda drove Bubba most of the time first, because she is super good at it and second, cuz she doesn’t trust anyone else to drive. Those of you who know Linda know what we mean. Nevertheless, she did an outstanding job. No scrapes, No scratches, No dings, No dents!
Monday, we are off again in the van to head home. Don’t know if we’ll get any sightseeing done along the way but if anything exciting happens, we will report in our final blog from home.
