Since we last blogged, the BFB's have been very busy. Today (Saturday) is the first day we are actually vegging at an RV park.  And wouldn’t you know it, we picked the park in Yosemite to do that – magnificent!  We have met great people along the way including a charming couple from Australia and a retired couple from Miami.  Last night we sat outside for the first time and visited with these folks.  It was great.

We are doing 2 blogs today to catch up but mainly because we want to put up more pictures.  First will be the San Francisco blog, then the Yosemite.

Our first day in San Francisco was cold, windy and rainy…so what else is new in this fascinating city?!  Nevertheless we got ourselves on the shuttle from our RV park at Candlestick Park (yes, it was a parking lot with power, water and sewage and a few small trees).  We rambled through Chinatown and did some errands which are always demanding when you don’t know where you are going.  Linda needed walking shoes and Sarah needed drugs.  Success was ours and the exercise wasn’t bad either.  Had a lovely dinner in the Fisherman’s Wharf area and headed home to turn Bubba’s heat on.

After an intense planning session, we agreed to let someone else do the driving for the rest of our stay.  Fortunately, we found a wonderful driver, Iman, who picked us up in his Town Car with 680,000 miles!  Iman was just great and we were chauffeured around town seeing Lombard Street, the Golden Gate, Coit Tower, Sausalito and so much more.  Would you believe the skies parted and the sun came out too?!?  Then it was back over the Golden Gate to visit Muir Woods.  This stand of California redwoods is simply awe inspiring and totally impossible to appreciate until you walk through the paths in this unspoiled woods right across the bay from San Francisco.  The sights, the smells and the peacefulness make it a MUST for any traveler to this area.

We bade a very fond farewell to our new friend, Iman, and settled into a booth at the Stinking Rose.  If you like garlic, this is the place to be…yes, they even had garlic ice cream.  We loved it (not the ice cream, the restaurant).  Then we wandered up to City Lights which is a famous bookstore we were directed to by Kim Schoen and Sarah Baker.  Fabulous and fun just like the Babes.

The next day was a travel day.  Since we had done a winery or two down South, we skipped our original plan to drive through Napa and Sonoma and turned Bubba east to Yosemite.  More about that in the next post!

Lisa and I crossed the San Fran bridge after eating a HUGE breakfast downtown and before heading back to her place in San Jose. We posed for a picture in the mountains to the NW. We had a GREAT time that weekend and I somehow knew that after that visit she and Surrey would be heading back to the East coast. I miss her. xoxo
