We decided to drive to the Karsa Kafe and have another of their wonderful Lassi's. I made the mistake of looking in the adjoining 'gallery' when we got there and was presented with a whole portfolio of paintings to look through. The lady who showed them to me said her husband had painted them, but neither Terry nor I were 100 percent convinced as we had seen almost identical all around Ubud and believed them to be prints.
We left the cafe to drive North toward the mountains. The roads were bumpy and there were no signs to follow. We had to stop every now and again so that Terry could check the map and to give our backsides some respite
After sitting in the restaurant for an hour or so waiting for it to stop raining........we decided to drive back to our accommodation. Terry seemed ultra confident on the moped now and started weaving around stationary vehicles or those going slow, and revving up whenever we had to stop, in preparation for a speedy get away - Im surprised we didn't do a wheelie at one junction. Quite frankly, he seemed to not be taking any other drivers into consideration at all, so much so that when we turned into our road, we were centimetres away from causing an accident with another biker. Luckily for us the Balinese seem to smile at everything and the bloke he had completely cut up just gave us a nod and a cheesy grin. Typically, Wayan our landlord, who had organised the rental of the moped for us, witnessed the whole ugly scene!
In the evening we decided to visit a Pizza restaurant just at the top of our road.
After the Pizza we decided to take a short stroll around the block as we had used the moped all day and hadn't taken any exercise. Typically, just as we were on our way back to the moped, I had a nasty fall and landed in the road with my foot stuck down an uncovered drainage hole. I had stepped off of the pavement to get round a girl who was blocking my way, straight into the hole. My foot got stuck and at least two people had to help me twist it out and then help me to stand up. Oh, I almost forgot, I knocked a moped over as well that was parked on the side of the road. It was right outside an open air restaurant and people were gasping in horror at what had happened -embarrassing. Terry didn't see it happen as he was about 20 metres in front of me, but turned just as the people managed to get me out. My ankle really hurt and I could hardly walk, but managed to hobble to a little ice cream parlour just up the road, which had seats. Terry had a Chocolate and Chilli scoop of ice cream and I had a scoop of Tiramisu; I think it helped ;-).
