The worst night ever. When the partying at the hotel next door stopped, the clearing up began. At 02:00 we were woken by the clanging of what sounded like scaffolding poles being loaded into a lorry. Blokes were shouting at each other, motorbike engines reving and lorries coming and going. It was awful.

When we went down for breakfast I had a little moan to reception. I got an apology of course but the receptionist seemed surprised; I could hardly believe I had been the first down to complain. She said I should have called down to reception and that they would have sent somebody to our room to measure the noise. That would have helped.

Terry was still feeling rough. His cough, if anything, had got worse and between us we diagnosed a chest infection. Luckily we had some 'anti malaria' antibiotics left over which I thought might be more effective than the hay fever medication.

During the day it absolutely poured down on and off. We did venture out to the shops and Terry bought a nice T Shirt but we were both shattered after the disturbed night so spent most of the afternoon in our room or out on the balcony.

In the evening we popped back to Mozzarellas for a meal. We got caught in a downpour and got rather wet, but soon dried off. We left the restaurant around 20:30 and walked across the road to a new Hypermarket that had just opened that evening. It wasn't exactly riveting, only one store was really open. We didn't need anything anyway and we were both tired and grumpy, me with a nagging headache which I had had since arriving in Kuta and Terry with his chest. What poor old souls we were!
