The tour started at 10:30 and was extremely interesting. We started at the vines themselves and our guide explained about the soil, the life cycle of the grapevines and the different grapes that make up the big reds, sweet wines, classics and the more unusual. The vines we stood in front of had been producing grapes for a Shiraz since 1878 -almost unbelievable!
From the vines we went indoors to the press, enormous vats and barrels. The tour itself lasted for a couple of hours then, at the end, we were invited to the cellar door to taste the wines
From Pokolbin we drove to Anna's Bay and secured a campsite for the night. We then drove on to Port Stephens to look around the small town and Marina. For some unknown reason I felt really tired, so we stopped for a couple of coffees and cakes.
We popped into the Information Centre to ask where we might be able to spot some wild Koala Bears, as this was one of the reasons we had chosen to overnight in Anna's Bay. We were given a marked up map of the Tawanee National Park and told to visit after 16:30 to ensure success.
Sure enough, shortly after arriving at the park Terry spotted a Koala asleep way up in a tree. He looked so cute and comfortable up there. We decided to take a walk through the Eucalyptus forest to see if we could spot any more and although covered a fair piece of ground and were deep in the bush, didn't manage any more sightings.
We returned to the campsite around 18:30. For the second night running, Terry carefully reversed Tub's into the wrong plot, this time he parked in plot 44 when we should have been in 46. Enough said.
Once parked in the correct plot, Terry got his head down and seemed to be making a little more progress understanding the Seagate however, after an hour of muttering and cursing, it seemed this was not the case. I suggested that whilst we were in a Wifi hotspot, he email the Seagate help-line to ascertain what he might be doing wrong. Whilst he typed out the email, I made a madly delicious meal of Gnocchi with Asparagus and Bacon in a Carbonara Sauce - quite an achievement on Tub's hob.
