Today was the day for booking the rest of the trip!! We had finally decided to leave BA and head off to see a bit more of Argentina! Once we started looking at distances between places we wanted to visit it became clear that without flying (which was pretty expensive) we were going to have to cut it down a bit! We spent about an hour with Macarena the lovely travel agent at the hostel trying to work out where we could go and how much it would cost! In the end we decided on 2 places to visit -iguazu falls which I really wanted to do and Mendoza for some wine tasting and trekking! This was to involve 4 long overnight bus journeys which would save us money on accommodation! The busses in Argentina are apparently really good with 5 different classes of bus from ones with seats that turn into beds to ones that are like normal busses to pop to town...they are not all available for all routes but we chose ones where the seats went pretty much flat!

The afternoon was a lazy one with the kids...we headed on the subway to Palermo and wandered around the shops, had a quick beer in a square then wandered a bit more.

As it was our last night in BA with the kids we decided to head back to Palermo to an expensive but highly recommended steak restaurant. We also picked up ester to come with us as she had no plans for the evening. Sara had 'google mapped' the route to the restaurant and marked it on her paper map and off we went! On getting off the subway we oriented ourselves and set off for dinner...after about a 20minute walk we were to switch to Sara's iPhone map to find the restaurant...at this point it became clear that her phone had been stolen on the subway!!! It really is incredible how stealthily this was done and made us all a bit more cautious of our belongings!!

With sara's map gone we reverted to my trip advisor app which pointed out that we had been going in the wrong direction for the whole time! This was not a happy discovery! After 2 hours of walking we finally reached our final destination to find as expected that it was fully booked but we could join the queue of 7 groups waiting for tables if we wanted! We decided to head back to the steak place we went to with penny (but not before Sara and I booked a table for our alternate new year on 30th December!). Dinner was delicious and we had our first good malbec for the bargain price of 68pesos!!

We headed back to the lunchtime square for drinks afterwards and ended up having a lovely night all capped off with 5 of us sharing a taxi which was really quite a squash but economically much better than paying for 2!!
