Back in Bangkok!
But it was some craic getting here I tells ya. We left Had Yao on the back of a jeep at 10.30 in the morning. We had to travel for an hour and a half across brutal and mean terrain that should have served as an omen to the trip ahead. When we got to the port we had an hour + of waiting in the scorching heat for a boat to take us to the mainland. Then it was onto what we presumed was our bus to Bangkok. Unfortunately this proved to be too good to be true. 3 hours into the journey and the bus pulls into a shack off the main road. Everyone had to get off and collect their bags. We were informed that we would have to wait at this shed for the " actual " Bangkok bus
which would get here at 8.30. Yippeee said we, yippeee times 2 says the million mosquitoes pining for blood. About 9 we hop on board our next bus and settle in for the 8 hour journey through the night
We arrive into the city about 5.30 and begin the wild backpacker hunt for available rooms. Luckily myself and Murph got digs in Thai Cozy after searching a few other options without success. Liam was'nt so lucky and
had to hang on in a bar for a few hours waiting for an availability on Soi rambutri. We joined him there were we enjoyed a few well deserved scoops. Eventually he got a room, along with a Danish lady who had been
with us on our hellish trip.
After some rest we met up that night and went to watch the final on the Aussie open tennis. What a match ! Federer v. Nedal. The two best in the game did not dissapoint and put us in good form so we went to another bar to watch some footie. We dropped Lyds( not the premierships biggest fan) back to the hotel first and then had a few scoops. We were joined by a perma-traveller named Mike from England who, after discovering our nationality, proceeded to ply myself and Madden with Jameson.
Unfortunately we were up early the next morning to begin our trip to Cambodia. Another lovely long voyage to soothe the weary soul.
