Okey Dokey,
Decided to take the 6 hour mini-bus through the Sierra Madre mountain range as opposed to the 10 hour swanky smoothy malarkey bus from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido on the Specific Coast. Have been here for nearly a week now soaking up the rays, sucking down the Cuba Libras and gettin the bejaysus burnt out of ourselfs. Tis a mighty spot with beautiful beaches and little bars and restaurants sprinkled about on the edge of the water.
Took up the auld boogey boarding and made holy shows of ourself in front of all the surfy, sun-kissed G.H.Y.s. Baldwin, Brad and Todd etc were not overly impressed with our extra especial ability to get snotted on the waves and come up a good bit later with half of the beach on our heads.
Went fishing with Armando ( El Capitan mas fina de Puerto Escondido ). This was great craic where we got to see Turtles spooning ( it´s their mating season ) and the highlight was when I reeled in a feckin 40 kilo swordfish. Twas bloody hard work and I was sure that pesky Free Willy himself was at the other end of that line sniggering away to himself. Anyway we got him onto the boat eventually and brought him ashore much to the delight of the locals who proceeded to have photographs taken of themselfs with our now christened fish Swordy. Turns out that fish this big are not caught often so not bad for someone who´s only previous fish-catching experience was trying to grab my gold-fish Buster out of the bath to put him back in his wee bowl. We cut up a couple of chunks of Swordy and had the local restaurant cook it up for us with some garlic and veggies. Have to say it was the best meal of the trip so far and we ate our aul mucker Swordy while suppin cold Coronas, watching the European Cup final with the waves lapping up a few feet away.
Lazy days continue here in Puerto and we´ve put off our departure a couple o times already. Maybe tomorrow we´ll head on to San Cristobal...... Zapatista country.
Travellers Tips
Our boat guy was called Hermando and his boat was called the Tornado
We stayed in Las Olas bungalow on Playa Zicatela. It was great, private bathroom, own cable TV and good location between Zicatela and the main beach where you can boogie board etc. It was 125 pesos per person.
Benditos pizza place on the main beach does real Italian pizzas with thin base. Delish.

The boys enjoy a pinacolada
. You can find him down by Danny´s Terrace on the main beach. He charged us 300 pesos an hour which was the price everyone seemed to be charging. Don´t know if that changes with the season but we did ask alot of people and everyone had the same price. He was excellent. The more we´ve heard about catching the swordfish as well the more we realise how rare an occurance it was. So fair play to him for letting Emmet reel it in, cos that fish was worth a few quid to him.We stayed in Las Olas bungalow on Playa Zicatela. I knew that fish, you snivelling, murderous cluts. I can see you now. Watch out for a tiny, shiny red dot hovering over what would be your heart, had you one at all. happy travelling, my loves.
