Established in 1890, I have spent many many wonderful days and weeks over the years in Sequoia National Park. This time, however, we were very surprised!
To backtrack, in planning this visit to the USA we had to take into account the fact that Robyn was graduating in May and Jamie was graduating in August, and we had to figure out what to do in the USA for 2+ months.
You think that is funny, what to do in the USA for 2+ months!? Well it is a tough decision! It is like having retired and being so busy enjoying life that you wonder when you ever had time to work!
Anyway, we decided to travel for a couple of weeks with Steve and Mary, Jay's brother and sister-in-law visiting Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks. It was a wonderful two weeks full of love and adventure, and surprises and happiness.
What "Them" weren't prepared for was the abrupt change in the weather.

The first surprise was the weather! We arrived and spent the first couple of days in shorts and T-shirts. We, Jackie and me, were on our way to Alaska; "Them", Steve and Mary were very prepared for the wonderful weather. What "Them" weren't prepared for was the abrupt change in the weather.

Winter in Summer
The rest of the week in Sequoia was definitely Winter In Summer! The Brothers
This was also the week that caused me to change all of my photography equipment. My brother is a professional photographer - http://www.stevegouldphotography.com/ - and I am at best a budding amateur. Nevertheless, I was very frustrated using my Canon G9 while Steve was using his Canon 20D. I simply could not create the raw images he was able to capture. Jumping ahead and towards the end of our trip through Alaska I purchased very fine Canon equipment. Aside from the blood bond, photography and the ability to discuss photography and the use of Photoshop has created an even closer bond between Steve and me.Sequoia National Park
Before the snow invasion we did have a magnificent time hiking Sequoia! Now, onto another incredible park: Yosemite National Park and more surprises.
