This is a tender port which means we do not get to tie up at the pier, instead we are anchored. Soon the Captain ordered a tender down to the water to determine if it was safe enough for us to board it. But, the Captain decided with the rolling seas, it would be better if we pulled up anchor and set sail for our next port which was Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Another sea day! We would have liked to have seen the stilt fishermen on our excursion, but maybe another time we can revisit here.
The day was filled with things to do. They put together a tremendous program to keep us occupied. Rich and I got caught up on our reading. The internet was non-existent all day, so no blogs could be posted.
Played trivia and we were a bit closer, but still no win. At least we have fun trying.
At 4:00 p we are docked at the pier in Colombo which has many stalls set up on the dock. Rich and I dashed over to see the wares and were so disappointed as to the quality. The fabric is not good at all. It is very stiff cotton, and the clothes are not well made. Think sewing 101.
We had dinner in Prime 7 with Karen and Tom. This is one of our favorite dining venues. Rich had the large pork chop, Karen had the surf and turf, Tom had the Dover Sole and I had a half roasted chicken. Everyone enjoyed their meal. This will be our last dinner with Tom and Karen as we are getting off the ship on Sunday and return on Wednesday late afternoon. Tom and Karen will then head out on Thursday.
Last night we did manage to see the show which was a local dance team. The team was very good. Some of them played these bongo type of drums, another had a shell horn. It was quite interesting to see the costumes.
Tomorrow we will take a tour of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Until next time...
