We had a tour booked, but decided to do our own tour. We took the shuttle into town. Along the way we saw many Brahma bulls just wondering in the streets, or close by. This is quite a poor area. It was like Thailand was 40 years ago. Their homes have metal roofs, just made with pieces they have found and patched together.
The shuttle dropped us off near a fort. We decided to skip the fort and walk into town. We went by a fish market and the aroma was one of the worst ones yet. It was horrible. We could not even walk into that fish market. Along the way we saw fish drying on blankets, hundreds of them.
There were quite a few small stores but everything seemed to be plastic ware. There was no real quality of goods here. The people seemed friendly enough.
We walked by a temple and noticed how nice it was. We did not venture in it as we are not sure of the protocol around there.
As we continued our walk Rich saw a spotted deer with antlers. We cannot imagine how this deer got here and how it liked the weather being so hot.
We were glad to get on the bus and return to the Voyager.
Our team came in first in trivia!! Second win for the team. Liz had positive thoughts about winning and she proved right!
We dined with Karen and Tom up in Sette Mari. It was our first time on this cruise that we dined up there. It is very different as part of the meal is buffet and part is served. The waiter brought out olives, bread, cheese, antipasto types of foods for the starter. But, also you could visit the buffet and start with salads, meats, etc. The food was really good, but too plentiful for us to go there too often. We enjoyed our conversation with Tom and Karen and had a great time.
Until next time...
