So, what a contrast leaving the kids playground of Disney and heading to the adult playground of Vegas! As we were in the middle the desert, we were expecting it to be hot, but the blistering heat we were faced with when we got out of the airport was like nothing we had experienced before and far hotter than we were expecting!
We were staying at the Excalibur Casino (Ye Olde English themed one) as it had good rates! After slapping on the suncream, we headed down the Las Vegas Boulevard to check out the main strip and Casinos. It didn't take us long to realise that we were out of our depth in the Casinos as neither of us are renowned for our gambling knowlege or poker face! We decided to check out the Las Vegas night life and hit a few bars as the soaring temperatures had made us ready for a nice cold beverage!
One of our favourite places that we went to was called margarittaville. We had dinner here and there was so much going on (people walking round on stilts, balloon animals, and the main attraction was a giant volcano in the middle of the bar which had a waterslide going down the side of it into a giant cocktail!! - Only in las vegas!!)
After dinner and drinks we went to a few other casinos such a caesars palace and bellagio. The fountains outside Bellagio do an amazing show every 15 minutes and do a sort of 'dance' to songs. Its pretty impressive!
The next day we had a long lie in (as all the sightseeing finally took its toll!) As it was too hot to be outside we stumbled across happy hour at a mexican bar. Which drink was on happy hour price was decided by a wheel of fortune which was spun every half hour. This is how we discovered margarittas! After spending a few hours there we went back to out hotel for dinner for the all you can eat buffet (never seen so much food in all my life - the puddings were amazing), but it eventually defeated us. We spent a few more dollars on blackjack and poker before hitting the sack as we had to be up for 3am to fly to San Fransisco.
