We arrived to our hotel mid afternoon after the mickey mouse shuttle picked us up from the airport. Door to door service and they even pick up your bags for you! The hotel was music themed and we spent the afternoon by the guitar shaped swimming pool! In the evening we went to 'downtown disney' which is an area full of themed restaurants, bars, shops on the riverfront. There was a lego shop which had loads of lego sculptures outside it. There was a london skyline scene made out of lego, and an american woman pointed to it and trying to sound knowledgable said to her child "look, thats the eiffel tower"...! In fact, she was looking at Big Ben! Almost as bad as mistaking a random skyscraper for the Empire State!
The next morning we got up very early and were at the gates of the magic kingdom (the main disney theme park) like two little kids waiting for it to open. We went on all of the main rides (space mountain, thunder mountain, splash mountain etc.) but one of our favourite attractions was a 3-D show called the Philharmagic. We spent the whole day in the park (14 hours in total!) on the rides and watching the various parades and ended the day by watching the main firework display above the Cinderella castle.
For all of you who comment on Luke's big hair, you will find it ammusing that a bird mistook the big hair for a nest! I got the scare of my life when a bird decided to take up residence on my head!!!
The next day we headed to one of the Disney waterparks called Typhoon Lagoon. It is designed to look as though a Typhoon has ripped through the park and it was recently ranked the number 1 water park in the world. There were a number of water slides and a brilliant wave machine and we also got to swim with exotic fish and sharks in a lagoon, the water was freezing, but well worth it! Today it was Anna's turn to have a run-in with a bird, but lets just say her's wasn't quite as pleasant if you get what I mean!? The rides were good fun and at the end of the day Anna had to be dragged off them as she was just going on the same slides again and again and again...!
That just about sums up our time in Disney as the next morning the Mickey Mouse bus came at 5am and we were heading to Vegas...
