Where I stayed
The following day was just what we had hoped for: clear blue skies, calm seas and scorching sun. We hired 2 scooters, jumped on and set off for a tour of the island - we visited the Big Buddha in the north, had some ridiculously cheap local thai food for lunch...about £1 a meal and then stopped off in Chaweng beach for a swim and some shopping. It was just what we expected...crowded, built up and chavvy
So after a quick dip and some ball we were on our way on our scooterinis! We got a little lost in Samui land on the east coast and Justin & Dani managed to get a flat tyre, hahaha- luckily there was a mechanic 500m up the road who changed the tyre in 5 minutes for £3...very lucky and an absolute bargain! We zoomed off trying to get to Nathon (not pronounced 'Nay-thin' but 'Na-ton' as we learned when we stopped to ask for directions!) by sunset which we just about made, ending up at the aptly named Sunset Restaurant for some watermelon shakes and an early dinner, we figure if we eat dinner early enough it gives you time to fit in a second Thai dinner later on...a cunning plan- can't get enough if this delish food!
After a quick trip home for the girls to put on some warmer clothes? we headed off to the Fisherman's Village in Bophut for some shopping and snacking. It was a bit like a mini Phi Phi, lots of stalls and vendors. Managed to fit in a cup of sweetcorn, some spring rolls, fried potatoes on a stick (GREAT IDEA) and thai fish cakes (bad idea)...oh and Nutella and banana crepes of course, no trip to Asia is complete without a few crepes!
