Yazd is pretty much in the middle of the desert. It is very dry and hot here!
Iranians` relationship with water is quite interesting, but in Yazd water even has a museum dedicated to it. Iranians have been building wells and irrigation channels for centuries and Yazd is famous for its cisterns and reservoirs. The city is one of the most exotic I have been in Iran: it has many traditional houses that are built around courtyards; they also have `wind towers` to help cool the rooms. These houses are built with light brown brick, mud and straw. The old city is like a maze with narrow streets and tall walls - very picturesque!!
But I guess the highlight of my stay here was the very nice travellers I met at the delightful Silk Road Hotel. It was wonderful to talk to tourists like me after travelling so long on my own.
It is very enriching to meet people from all over the world, who love travelling and have loads of interesting stories to tell.
I was sad to leave Yazd!

It was a real pleasure to meet you in Yazd! After 3 weeks in Iran I was also very pleased to meet other travellers and to share our experiences. The Silk Road Hotel was definitely one of the highlights of my time in Iran!

I travelled through Turkmenistan (really bizarre, but the women are GORGEOUS!) and am now in Uzbekistan enjoying the vibe here. Bukhara is another city to add to your 'must visit' list.

Keep safe and hopefully see you on the road somewhere sometime!
