I have always loved the desert and the idea of an oasis village really appealed to me, but Garmeh was not as beautiful as I expected: the houses were not old and the guest house not as welcoming as I hoped. Nevertheless it was very good to enter the cool waters of a natural water spring at the base of a rocky cliff. I also spent one night in a even more remote village near a sandy dune desert, where there was a row of traditional houses and a few camels - very peaceful and isolated. Walking in the sandy desert was beautiful: a felt a mixture of peace and imminent threat; the strong wind made it even more atmospheric.
