Ok, so landed in Christchurch on Thursday 1st December and I think we just spent the day sleeping. Oh, the highlight of this day was the Thai Green Curry I had for $8. Not bad.
Friday (2nd) I just wandered around the city, which is pretty small, but has quite a quaint feel to it and does remind me of home in some places, especially around the river. Oh yeah, I went for a walk along the river with the intention of ending in the botanical gardens (I seem to love these) but was actually walking in the wrong direction, and it took a good hour for it to click and for me to turn around
I think it was this night that we decided to hit the town. After a fair few drinks at the hostel we went in search of a karaoke bar and we weren't disappointed. Liz and I ended up 'singing' (I use the word loosely, you understand) Natasha Bedingfield's 'These Words' and then I did a solo - Sheryl Crow's 'The First Cut Is The Deepest' - a vast improvement on my horrific attempt at 'Rescue Me' back in Thailand a few years ago. So a grand night was had by all and we staggered home in the wee hours.
Sat (3rd) Liz and I went to Hamner Springs, which were around an hour and a half's drive northwest of Christchurch and spent the day nursing our hangovers. Think we had a quiet one that night back in Christchurch.
