Today I woke up to the sad news that after Owen Wilson's attempt to kill himself, Heath Ledger succeeded in his own suicide attempt.

After my bike ride to the school (with a sore bottom from all of the bounces along the road), I found myself thinking away while I painted (there is plenty of thinking time!), how bad was Heath Ledger's life really??? ... Especially as I met and chatted to more of the children at the school. These children will nearly all become goatherds scratching out a difficult life ... as until Martin and Tiddy set up a way for their guests to sponsor children, no parents could afford to send their children on to secondary school. Now even with sponsorship, only 2 of the latest year that graduated had high enough scores in their Primary School Certificate exams to go on to the school. This is despite the children having many of the similar hopes and dreams that we did at school to be doctors or lawyers etc.  Working at the school has really made me realise just how lucky I am!
