Today we were off to LA! we packed our bags and checked out and walked to Santa Fe Depot, about 25 mins away. From there were caught the Coaster which was $4.50 each, to Oceanside. It was a nice train ride, an hour long and was a 2 level train which is fun. we sat up the top and the train went the whole way along the coast so we got to see all the beaches. At Oceanside we got off and went down to the beach for some food and saw some people get arrested! Who knows why. Everyone seems to go to the beach just the lie in the sun as well, and to show off their muscles. Noone was even on the sand, they were all on the grass right above the sand. Strange people.

So from Oceanside we got the Metrolink train the rest of the way to LA. It followed more coast and the beach went for miles, but they dont have beaches like us, there are no sand dunes or anything. They have the waves hitting the sand, 10m of sand back from shore, then a railway, a road and then cliffs and houses. Not the beach experience I prefer.

Once we got to LA union station we caught the big blue bus number 10 to Santa Monica, it was as long as the ride from San Diego to Oceanside! bleh buses. But we got there and checked into the hostel, which is in fact the first brick strcuture in Santa Monica and the oldest still standing structure in Santa Monica. Kinda cool, we had seperate dorms though because the rooms aren't coed. And we werent even on the same floor. But that meant we actually mingled a bit, although we were both in rooms with 6-8 other Australians in them haha. Small world, only ones from Canberra though.

We went down to the pier for some food and they have rollercoasters and fun stuff! We went to bubba gumps for dinner, haha i love forrest gump. We were going to go for a walk on the beach except it was reallllly cold by then, so we went home instead.
