We started today with free pancakes :D yum yum. tom used the last of his vegemite on his :( he was sad. there wasnt even enough for one pancake, it covered a small corner.

After breakfast we went for a walk down to the water, we went around the convention centre and saw that the baseball stadium was really close to where we were staying! so looking up the san diego padres schedule was a must for when we got home. Baseball game thursday night it looks like! woohoo.. :) After looking at all the big fancy schmancy boats docked at the marina with the people coming off them to have showers at the marina washroom we stumbled across seaport village. A cool little area right on the water with lots of trendy little shops and cafes, fun to explore, lots of cool little things to buy.

We kept walking until we got to the USS Midway, which was our original destination. Its the big navy ship that sits in the harbour because its retired and you can go on it and theyve turned it into a museum so that you can walk throughout the whole thing and see what they ate and where they slept and did their washing and see the dentist that they got their teeth fixed in, as well as where they keep all the weapons and planes. You can even go inside some of the planes and see all the buttons and dials that they have to deal with! gosh. so many. It was pretty cool to explore. Lots of fun.

The coolest part was probably seeing what the different ranked officers got to eat. Steak and potato versus lobster?? mmm yummy.

We went for lunch on the waterfront and had fish and chips for cheap, they were delicious :D Then we walked back to the hostel via horton plaza, which is a westfield! But again, its an outdoor mall, so you cant go to the mall to get out of the wind and cold like i was trying to do :(

We ate subway for dinner because its right across the road, cheap and healthy :D
Also, its memorial day weekend, so staying on the main street through the gaslamp quarter means we hear everything that goes on throught the night....the lonnnnnng night, with everyone partying till 3-4am. And then the street cleaner comes at 3:30am to clean the streets for half an hour! So much noise...but we should sleep through it. Although last night some guys from the hostel decided to sit on our windowsill, because theres a fire escape ladder right next to it and were chatting away loudly less than a metre away which woke me up. :(
