We arrived rather late so we took advantage of the hotel's spa and swimming pool and had a lovely relaxing evening and went to bed early.
The next day was our last of 2010 so we were looking forward to our New Years Eve celebrations in the city with our family friend Roberto who is currently living and working in San Francisco. We spent the day taking a tram ride around the city, up and down the famous hills and seeing the sights. We found ourselves at Fisherman's Warf late afternoon for a quick snoop around and a drink before heading back to the hotel
The weather has been unusually cold since we arrived in the USA and as we travelled from place to place we found ourselves buying more and more jumpers and long sleeved layers and putting our t-shirts to the bottom of our suitcases. Now we'd arrived in San Fran, not only was it cold but wet too... good job the hotel had umbrellas!
We met Roberto that evening for drinks and a catch up before we made our way to China Town for what was said to be the best Chinese in San Francisco... I beg to differ... anyway we then headed back to Fisherman's Warf to celebrate the stroke of midnight and to watch the fireworks over the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately for us and the hundereds of other people who turned up to see the display, they were cancelled due to the bad weather! We had a brilliant night all the same and managed to laugh our way through the long uphill walk in the pouring rain at 2 am due to severe lack of taxis!
New Year's day left a few of us with sore heads, as I'm sure it did you too??? It was cold and raining again so sight seeing was not on the agenda. We had a really lazy day at the spa, eating comfort food and had an early night in preparation for our drive to Santa Barbara the next day.
So I guess I should wish you all a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2011! And that's it... all over again for another year! There will be Christmas decorations in the shops again before we know it, I swear they start earlier each year!
