One day to go and I'm all packed... well almost. I'm debating whether a couple of my T shirts are actually needed, since I'll be buying out half of Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters when I arrive. Anyway, my suitcase is bulging with shoes, make-up, handbags etc etc and I have purchased a rather nice leopard-print bag (a Primark bargain) to put my laptop in for the flight, in fact it's been doubling as a handbag until I buy a new one (or three) in LA.
Right now I'm attempting to check-in on the Virgin Atlantic website... but the online check-in facility is down. I've just been out for my Last Supper; a meal at Nando's in Staines with The Gang... at the end of the evening I was saying Happy Christmas and Happy New Year to everybody since I won't be back until 2009. I'll miss everybody lots and lots... but I certainly won't miss the weather. It's been grey and wet all day, but I cheered up when I checked out the 10 day forecast for Lake Forest; 29 c at the end of the week. Goodbye umbrella, hello sun cream!
Tomorrow is Day One of my big trip, starting at lunchtime at Heathrow T3 with the tedious task of checking in, security then hanging around the departure hall for ages and ages... then the 11 hour flight. Please, please can there not be any crying babies in the cabin? There was one on the night flight back from Miami in February - so irritating. I'm flying with Virgin Atlantic again, whom I love due to their smiley staff, decent plane-food (they do Gu desserts, mmmm!) and impressive selection of movies, TV shows, games and interactive map. Paul is due to meet me in LAX then we'll be driving back to Lake Forest, my home for the majority of the next 8 weeks.
LA, here I come...
