After four months, which to us has felt like a life time (our own decision of course) we are finally leaving Darwin and Australia hurray!! Maybe one day we're be back to do Western Australia, maybe not, who knows!? We have certainly been experiencing a mixture of emotions, especially with such a sour ending with the van, poor old girl! We can't quite believe how quickly our year 'down under' has slipped away - this day has suddenly just crept up on us! This country is just far too big, a year is not long enough. At least we have managed to turn our time in Darwin in to something positive, now being able to go back to Asia and do some things we missed off the first time. Despite everything we have absolutely no regrets, Australia has been such a huge part of our trip and a year of our lives that we will treasure for so many different reasons.

We are certainly looking forward to the new and exciting challenges and adventures that we know Asia will bring us A close encounter with eagles

. At this stage we don't have many concrete plans, I'm sure we'll change our minds from week to week, just that we fly to Singapore and then on to Thailand for some much needed R & R. We couldn't pass up the chance to sit back on a beautiful Thai beach again, eating great food and sipping on ice cold beers!

The van has now got a new owner, our v-dub mechanic of all people. So we're not too sure what her future holds, to be honest we don't care, we're just glad to be rid of the thing! We hope someone in the future will get more pleasure out of her then we did.

We had an awesome last day and evening in Australia with our friends Arno and Eva. During the day we went to the Adelaide River for the Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Basically we were taken out on a boat up the river, which was teeming with salt water crocs. They entice the crocs out of the water with raw meat on the end of stick, although never actually fed them! I think the crocs just knew there was a boat full of potential food, they were even watching us as we boarded the boat, one false move on the jetty and we would have been a goner! They are absolutely amazing creatures and this was a great way to see them up close and personal in their natural habitat. Just brilliant!

We just couldn't bear the thought of spending our last night in a hostel and decided to splash out and why the hell not! We booked in to the plush airport hotel, so we wouldn't have too far to go to catch our flight. Better still, when we arrived someone had mucked up our booking and we were upgraded to an executive suite. The room was lovely with a king size bed, plasma screen TVs, air con and a spa ohhhhhhhhh. Although we had our little splurge on the room, we are still backpackers and ended up ordering a pizza - classy! Hey we know what's we like and likes what we know!!! Our friends Arno and Eva surprised us with a bottle of bubbly, so we all toasted off Australia together. What a great way to end a great year.

See ya later Oz x
