We didnīt fancy roaming the streets of downtown Sao Paulo that night so we stayed in the hostel, cooked a meal and watched the city go by from the safety of the 7th floor balcony.
This was literally a hub destination for us.
Our journey to Uruguay began with a six hour bus ride from Paraty to Sao Paulo. We arrived mid afternoon at the Terminal Tiete bus station and decided to navigate the metro to the other side of town to our hostel, in fact it was in downtown and not the nicest of places to stay. We had only booked this particular hostel as it was close to the airport shuttle stop and we were catching a flight the next day. As we marched through the streets we passed some very dodgy looking characters and it made us feel a little uneasy, especially as we had all our belongings on us!
