Love to everyone and more tomorrow with pics of Venice, oh and remember we are 7 hours ahead of you all.
Mick and Lisa
No pics today everyone, as it was a long and tiring day and woke up a little sick this morning. Could not have been from the 2 liters of wine, right? Anyway, we got up around 6:30, breakfast was served at 7:30, had taxi called for 8:00 and realized we were reading our train ticket wrong so we got to relax for another hour. Then to the Termini (rail station) and the stupid cab driver charged us 15 euros, NO TIP FOR HIM! Anyway, really sick and had to use the restroom which by the way they call "Toilet" here, no "restroom or bathroom". It is a toilet and by god that is what the sign says. Anyway I had to pay .60 euros which is 90 cents us. I got my money's worth though! Then finally time to find our train, wow that was an adventure because we almost sent to Naples. Yep, they post a train then when you start to it you better look again because it can change, it's Italy. So then got to our train and that toilet was free thank goodness because I was in that disgusting thing quite a few times. Anyway, Mick has been very patient with my OCD so that is good. The train took from 10:44 am to 5:00 pm to get to Venice. The last stop we were sweating it because we bought the ticket wrong. We bought it going to Mestre station which is the station before Santa Lucia which is the station in Venice. The conductor did not come back around and ask us for ticket, whew. Anyway, straight off train and to Valparetti tickets which is the water bus. We needed boat 51 to get to Lido and just as we walked up of course it was pulling away, but no worries another came in about 15 minutes. Quite the adventure. Then off the water bus and not a clue where Villa Casanova is. Some people will help; and then others won't, so I walked in to a hotel about 3 blocks away and he told me. I winked at him, that must have done it, huh? We walked to our B&B which is an old 1930 house restored and it is beautiful. This island is much more peaceful and calm compared to Rome. Tomorrow we will head back on the boat which only takes about 20 minutes to Venice and take pics and look around. I am already stressing over the train to Siena. I took two halves of Valium today. We met some nice Ausies today on the train and she could see how anxious I was and said "honey, don't stress, medicate. We have something we take when we travel. They were in their late 50's and really nice. She is the one that told us we needed to go to Santa Lucia, not Mestre. Thank goodness because that was far from the last stop. I can tell this place is really going to be incredible, but still want to come home!!! I hate not not having a phone and Mick is about to pull his hair out without T.V. We have it, but it is all italian.
