Ok here I am and it's stunning! Koh Tao is a little island on the east coast of Thailand, and man it's beautiful here.

I caught the night train down from Bnagkok, which I can only describe in terms of the smells we passed through - raw sewage, car fumes and heavy inscence. I then got the 'high speed' catamaran from Chumphon in the early morning to see the sun come up over Koh Tao flooding it in a beautiful pinky light.

Got off the boat to find my dive resort was just a 2 min walk, whcih was good considering how fucking heavy my bag is! I dumped my stuff and then told them I wanted a day to re-coup before starting the corse. So I had a shower and a cat nap through the hottest part of the day. When I the early evening came I was starving so I set off to explore a bit and find something to eat.

I'm just walking down past out of the resort when I pass a dark figure and I was just thinking "I recognise that tartin longi" when I hear "Lucy!" and it turned out to be a guy called Chris who I had meet in the hostel in Singapore. He'd just finished his open water and was walking down to get certified. So we arranged to meet up later. I went off had some brilliant italian for only a couple of hundred baht (about 4 quid at the very most).

We then spent the evening drinking Singha beers and watching fire poi and sticks on the beach. It was awesome, they even got a fire skipping rope out and a fire hoop! I think one of the thai's way to pass the time is to watch westerners getting burnt. They also have a really cool tradition here when they send off gaint paper latterns fueled by a candle underneath so that they rise up into the night sky and drift off out to sea. They end up looking like stars in the sky. It's just beautiful!

My hut in the dive resort was right next to a load of building work though so the next morning I asked to be moved down to the accomadation they have on the next beach over. It's alot nicer here and I've certainly got that 'beach living' vibe.
