Barring calls
With some subscriptions and some prepaid providers you can block incoming and outgoing calls. On this page we explain how barring calls works, what the possibilities are and what you can't do with this function. To block calls you need a special code which you can ask for at your provider. In general you have to pay for this.
Blocking calls is very handy when you have to lend out your cellular phone to someone to be within reach. In this case you can block outgoing calls and allow incoming calls. You can block incoming calls when you don't want to be disturbed and only want to be contacted by SMS. In this way you can also block calls when you're abroad. You can do this with incoming and outgoing calls. In the cellular phone world there are 5 types of barring calls: All outgoing calls for SMS and/or speech International calls (to a foreign country) for SMS and/or speech International calls except the native country (in a foreign country) for SMS and/or speech All incoming calls for SMS and/or speech All incoming calls in a foreign country for SMS and/or speechYou can activate and de-activate the barring of calls. You can also claim the status of a barred call. You can block calls in most of the cases in the menu of your mobile phone (most of the time under network services). It goes too far to explain how to reach the wanted menu per device, that's why I give you the direct instruction codes. Basically these codes are the same as the codes that are sent from the menu in your mobile phone.
You can find the construction of the instruction codes elsewhere on this Mobile Phone Helpdesk. On this page I only focus on describing the instruction codes for barring calls. You can only use the barring function when there are no active call-forwards!
