-- "Ouch... Jet lag"

We'll it's 9:47am or is it pm? Which time zone again? After 32 hours of flights and 3 hours of sleep it's hard for me to stay standing straight. I arrived into Bangkok at 1am (local time) this morning and got myself a hotel until 9am, a good idea it seemed at the time... sleep here I come. Not quite, I managed to squeeze in a whopping 45 minutes of sleep and way too many hours of starring blankly at the ceiling. I have never had Jet lag this bad, I have to admit it's very disorienting, having a mild cold doesn't help either. This screen looks a little blurry right now, I can't wait for this Jet lag to wear off.

-- "The gradual progression of culture shock"

I have to admit the way the flights were layed out made it easy to deal with the culture shock. Although I haven't arrived in Cambodia yet, the progression from Canada to the USA to Tokyo then to Bangkok had a nice progressive way of sinking in the change of culture which I had in store for me.

The Canadian flights were a welcome comfort and quite normal but once I was enroute to my flight at the LA airport, normality started changing. To my right, a couple on a Spiritual Quest to Delhi, India to stay with their Guru. To my left, buddhist monks in fluorescent orange robes.

By the time I arrived in Bangkok, I was already used to dealing with the fact that english isn't as easy to pull of as you'd think. Most interactions since I got here amount to a simple game of charades. Hand gestures and facial expressions are always the universal language :).

My stay in Bangkok is short. I leave in a few hours for Cambodia, but I have a 2 day stay here on the way back. I'll leave the exploring for then.

Well not much else to say, the flight here was memorable, I have met some interesting people and swapped a half dozen emails already ( Hi Raj, Mann, Vicky ). Feels like I have been away for a week and this is just the first leg of the trip ... just wait for my next entry! :)

No pictures this time, Cheers!
