In Peru!
We are here for a day to visit the floating islands in the lake Titicaca (that Bolivia and Peru share) so it is back for another trip on this lake but this time on the other side.
The tour was great, we went to some islands entirely man made, and all made of straw. Some families (that speak Aymaran) live there. Walking on the island is very soft, every two months, the locals need to lift their houses (all made of straw) to put another layer on. They live from farming trout and selling the fish to the mainland, against what they buy everything they need to survive such as food (vegetables, meat, milk) because nothing grows there. We were welcomed by the locals, all dressed traditionally, they sang for us a typical song, and showed us their goods, women usually spend their days making jewlery, sewing, decorating rugs, patchworks etc... that they sell to tourist and look after children. Men fish or they go to work on the mainland.
On another island, it is possible for tourist to sleep there, there is a pricey bar and restaurant and a small markets.
