Show trip route
We are at sea today - great weather with sunny skies and 24 C. Everybody slept in today - Avis and I didn't get out of the room until 12:30, Pat and Charles slept until 11. It was a day of much less eating and drinking and more time lying by the pool. Bob, Charles, Linda and Avis took part in a Name that Tune contest by the pool
Tonight was our second formal night and Avis and Belinda broke the pact and wore a different outfit!! We usually only stay in our formal clothes for dinner then head back to the room and change back into our jeans for the rest of the evening.
The rest of the group went to a show in the big theatre tonight but I spent my after dinner time sitting on the balcony of our cabin watching the ocean go by and getting caught up in my journal. I thought I would take in a great sunset over the water but we ran into a very large fog bank (are still in it at 10:30 p.m.) The Baltic Sea is like glass today, it is very smooth. If you didn't see the water out there, you would never know you were on a ship.
Here are some things I learned about our ship, the Celebrity Constellation
-2100 passengers, 900 crew
-ship was built in 2002 in France
-it is 90,280 tonnes, 965 feet long
-powered by 2 gas turbine engines, each one rated at 39,000 horsepower
-there are 250 Canadians on board and lots of people from Spanish speaking countries, the announcements are in English and Spanish. There are also a lot of British citizens. They have their own cruise director.
-the ship is registered in Liberia, its home port is Monrovia
We have a big day in Helsinki, Finland tomorrow so no partying or dancing tonight.
