This was our day to travel to Harwich and board our cruise ship the Constellation. We took a bus from Victoria station and had about a 2 and 1/2 hr. drive throught the English countryside. On the way we passed the site of the 2012 Olympics. They have the big stadium about 1/2 finished, the rest is piles of dirt, some large steel columns and about 20 giant cranes. We got to our ship about 3 p.m., had a quick checkin and made our way to our room.

We have a great stateroom. It has a balcony with floor to celing sliding doors. It is so great to be able to go outside and watch the waves go by or watch as we head into or out of port. At night we leave the door open a bit so we can hear the ocean. We have a large bathroom, lots of closet space, a desk, telephone, television, everything you could want, really. Our stateroom attendant takes very good care of us and changes the towels about 2 times a day. Pampered!

We have a nice table for 6 with a good view of the sea. Our waiter's name is Mauricio and he is from the city of Goa, has been a waiter for 17 years. The food is amazing. Dinner is 5 courses and you can have whatever you want from the menu in any amount. It's kind of overwhelming and you never, ever feel hungry. In addition to the sit down meals in the dining room there is a buffet that goes on all the time with many, many choices, plus a sushi bar, a grill for hot dogs and hamburgers, a pizza bar, a pasta bar, a salad bar (believe it or not we have actually gone there), an ice cream station and probably more eating stations that I don't even know about.

There are dozens of activities going on all the time, there is a big casino, several pools, ping pong, shuffleboard, a huge spa, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Luckily we manage to do a lot of walking and take the stairs up and down (Avis won't let me use the elevator unless we are going from deck 4 to deck 11 or something like that) so we get a bit of exercise to wear off some of those meals. We have been dancing a couple of nights which works up a sweat , too. Plus, you slow down on the eating quite a bit after the 3rd day.

All in all a great holiday so far. Hope all goes well at home.
