So... we have made it safely to Krabbi! After last i wrote, beth and i packed up our backpacks, bid farewell our new thai friends at the reception desk, and walked to the main street where we again caught our beloved local taxi-bus. On our ride we met an adorable hippie girl travelling with her young daughter, the mother was certainly younger than beth and i, and the daughter was probably about 2... and the most beautifull child i have ever seen, with dark caramel skin and adorable light brown mini dreaddlocks. The mom was certainly beyond her years though, she seems to have lived ALOT of life in her short years, she is from germany, but has been in thailand for over a couple years, she speaks fluent thai... she gave us the low-down on krabbi, so as to not get ripped off. This was all greatly appreciated information. Then we hopped off at the pier, made a quick stop at our beloved 7/11 to pick up water and snacks, and made our way down the pier to wher our boat was to pick us up. We boarded our ferry, and this time found ourselves not sweating like pigs getting a sunburn on the pile of backpacks, but inside in the airconditioning in the much coveted captains chairs watching a movie... this is the life! Beth and i are both on our second or third books at this point, but you can trade them with other travellers, or sell them and buy new used ones for super cheap, so it works well. Our ferry landed at Surrathani, and we hung out with a few hundred of our fellow backpackers brigaders, got some noodles and rice, covered our backpacks with their little rain covers (first rain weve experienced miraculously enough-- it being monsoon season and all), and booked lodging in krabbi for our first night (so we would have free pickup from the bus stop. We finally baorded our lovely aircon bus, beth and i had the best seats in the house... right up front with plenty of room to spread out. More reading, and the lovely company of our ipods made the 3 hour so journey fly by. Then our "hotel transfer" picked us up at the bus-stop. By hotel transfer i mean a small pickup-truck piled six of us backpackers with all of our large backpacks into the bed of the truck (not such a strange experience for me, got to love taos preparing you for almost anything a third world country could throw your way), and we spent about 25 minutes cruising and enjoying the breeze. This was beth's official 3rd time in a pickup truck... apparantly floridians down in her parts are not such hicks. We made it to our bungalow "mild bungalow", which was beautifull and clean and lovely. It has a fan, and a TV!!! and is only 5$ a night, so we are quite happy. We skipped dinner and just fell asleep, and woke up this morning to eat a hearty breakfast. Now we've made our way into the downtown part of Ao Nang beach, so as toinform our mothers that we are alive and well! We'll stay here a couple night,s perhaps catch the boat to phi phi or phuket, not sure yet. But now that were settled ill keep you posted. Take care
