Well... In a few hours we are off to catch the ferry for Koh Phanang for the world famous full moon party, we get picked up at our place, ferried to the island of Koh Phanang at approx 730-8pm this evening, and then stay up all night partying and catch the ferry back, the first of which is at 5am. I feel like a grandma... the thought of staying up all night is just insanity to me... i know, what happened to me. For our mothers, do know it is quite safe these days, thai police everywhere keep it very safe for all of us "pharang", or foreigners as we'd say it. Plus Beth and I are basically goodie-two-shoes, so there will be no drugs or alcohol... well certainly have our senses about us. Ive received so may wonderfull e-mails from everyone, and it only makes travelling that much better to know you have so many people who love you to come home to (though home at this point is a loosely defined concept for me which is a combination of loved ones scattered all over the country, mom's house in cali, poppy in taos, that wet hot beautifull stench that is new orleans, and of course taos, which is and always will be HOME) debauchery full moon style

. I keep forgetting to write all these small things i perpetually think about... how there are 7/11's on EVERY street corner, how that train ride reminded me soooo much of that dreadfull train ride about a decade ago across Tsavo in Kenya (you kow, the ghost in teh darkness, man eating lions place), and how the crunchy aesthetic is so fashionable right now amongs the young backpackers... its borderline ridiculous, but most people are sheep, whether they are having fake dreadlocks weaved into their hair\wearing the crunchy get up with the huge shell necklace dangling from their neck and big goofy looking folded over pant-skirt things; or they are bleaching their hair blonde and fake baking themselves bronze, so it goes. Andy, (one of my two best friends from Cambridge) wrote me an e-mail that brought me on the verge of tears, i am "inspiring"... it always made me feel uncomfortable when people would say this to me about dealing with the whole scuba incident, but from Andy it doesnt sound like pity, and it doesnt sound condescending, and from him it really means alot. I also keep receiving e-mails from pepole telling me to move places with them... but i am enjoying being far removed from the reality of having to decide on which school or job to go to. For now, ill have to sign off, but ill keep ya'll posted, hugs!!!
