Also enjoyed Café Cora which really does White Spot one better. "Spectacular breakfasts with mounds of fresh fruit are the specialty at this sunny chain restaurant. Whimsy is everywhere, from the plastic chicken decorations to the inventive dishes, often named after customers and family members who inspired them. Try the Eggs Ben et Dictine, which has smoked salmon, or the Gargantua -- two eggs, sausage, ham, pancakes, cretons (pâtés), and baked beans. If one identifies oneself as English speaking, they produce an English menu." It was a really super meal and I think I ate there about 3 times when I was in Quebec. I understand they have branched out into Toronto. Go west, I say.
Finally, Susan and I went to Cosmos Restaurant. As one of the reviews says, it is "one of the trendiest restaurants on the Grande Allée, Quebec City's main entertainment street. In a décor straight out of a sci-fi movie, the colourful crowd enjoys gourmet breakfasts, exotic salads, pizza, burgers, exquisite deserts and many other "cosmic" specialties. Good selection of wine, beer and spirits, are all available from the modish and energetic staff. At night, the lights go down, the music goes up and the party begins." There is an aquarium in the wall between the ladies room and the restaurant generally (with a mirror behind it so "they" can't see in and another sort of aquarium in the floor with glass over water and you can see fish swimming around under your feet. All very crowded but a lot of fun.
