The last few days Elysia and I have felt generally kind of exhausted. We have had a few travelling days and a few early starts and I feel a bit like I did at the end of the contiki.. Absolutely wrecked! When you are not holidaying and at home lots of weekend days people tend to do household chores, maybe have a walk and then just sit around a watch tv and we have just been go go go for ages! So we decided that today we would do pretty well nothing! We slept in as long as possible without missing out on breakfast and after we had had some food we spent some time lounging in the room and re-packing our bags.

Then we headed down to the pool and I swam 100 weird laps of a jelly bean shaped pool. Once I was showered and organised for the day I spent some time putting photos on Facebook, typing up my travelpod entries and I watched a movie. Then at about 3pm we actually ventured out of the room/hotel! We went back to a couple of the little cheap souvenir shops as Elysia wanted little gifts for her school kids and I wanted to buy a couple of spare presents in case I have forgotten anyone. This only took us about an hour and then we went back to the room again :) we had a bit of a snack and got all dressed up as to that might we had our Istanbul experience evening,

We had to be in reception for pick up between 730 and 8pm and our ride eventually rocked up at about 820pm. I guess traffic in these massive cities is pretty unpredictable and when we arrived the show hadn't started so it didn't really matter. There was a stage and all the tables surrounded that on a couple of different levels and we were close enough to have a pretty good view. The food was pretty good as throughout the night we had a tasting plate thing, a cheese pastry, chicken & rice, a salad and a fruit platter. The entertainment was really good to but a bit too much crowd involvement for my liking. Not just because we got dragged up but you could see people were over all the crap games where people were humiliated. The traditional Turkish dancers were really good though. There were three guys and three girls in these traditional costumes and they got us up on the stage at one point but we were all just dancing around in a circle so it wasn't too bad. They also did a cool act with these massive drums which was awesome. In between all their acts we had three different belly dancers. They obviously saved the best till last as the first one was crap, I think she was just there because she had fake boobs and looked like a playboy bunny. The others were good to watch though,

The over the top crowd participation didn't start until the singer came out. We had learnt songs in all these different languages and so could get various tables to either dance or sing along to 'their' songs. There was a massive table of about 20 Indians who were enjoying in it all but we were the only two Aussies and like I said we were asked t be involved too many times. We were made to sing bits of waltzing Matilda, then brought up to dance to some African song I have never heard of and then he tried to get us to go in a belly dancing competition. I was quite feisty at this point plus he couldn't reach me but he dragged Elysia up there and while it was pretty funny and obviously the whole night was really enjoyable it did still annoy me! And elysia tried to get off the stage about 4 times and he kept dragging her back, it was just a bit too much I guess. i know you expect some crowd games at these things but if you count Elysia and I separately we had 7 starring roles! Anyway the show ended sometime after 11 and we had our minibus take us home to bed.
