The 20-minute film, The Real Shangri-la is now finished. Here are some frames from the film, developed for WWF, the Shangri-la Institute for Sustainable Communities, and the Shangri-la Sustainable Communities Initiative.

The purpose of the film is to educate donors, members, and potential ecotourists. The theme revolves around the mystery of Shangri-la and Shambala, tying the fictional world of James Hilton's Lost Horizon and Nicholas Roerich's paintings to the real world here in Diqing Prefecture, Yunnan.

The film is much too long for this little travelpod (I tried). So here's one of many scenes. This scene is a fast-moving introduction to people and wildlife in the area.

Steph,

I'm not sure why you're considering not doing the Ph. D. program at UCLA, but hope that it's the right decision for you (if you choose that) and not that you're giving up. There's more to life than academia, as you know, although it seems to be a good life with opportunity.

Hey Leticia!

Great to hear from you. Thanks for leaving a message. It's been a while. Of course, the Vineyard dj/jam days will always be magical. Remember them fondly. Keep in touch.
