The Long Flight.
Entry 1 of 17 | show all | print this entry |
The last things were getting gathered together, we were doing some last minutes cleaning, together we sat on the suitcases to close them up and in between making lists of who we want to buy for and what we want to buy. I thought that 8:45pm would never come. As they say a watched clock never ticks, and every minute seemed to last longer. I tried to fill in my time by doing some catch up homework but it was maths and who wants to do maths when they are all keyed up for the holiday? Not me I tell you.
When it finally did come round to 8:45pm us kids were already in the car. Watching a Disney Channel and waiting. As we drove along to the airport we talked about what we were looking forward to. Of course dad mentioned that in one week today he too would be coming to China. Typical Dad.
We had already pre-checked in via the internet so it took us 10 minutes to get to the international departures. After a teary good-bye to dad we made our way to the boarding gate. Our flight wasn't until one o'clock in the morning. So a quick thanks to the person who invented i-pods! With out you I would have gone insane!! "Flight from Melbourne to Beijing via Singapore, boarding now! Boarding now." Finally! We joined the queue and got on board the plane. We sat in this order: Hayley, Mum, Elyse, aisle, Me, Amy, Radom person.
It was super cool, we had our own remotes and it was movie on demand! That means that I could choose to watch Juno at 7:00pm and pause it at 7:15pm, then someone else could start watching it at 7:10pm and watch threw to 8:00pm before getting board and changing movies. If that explanation makes no sense to you, look up Singapore airlines on Google. That's what is there fore anyway!
I slept a little bit at the start of the flight (1 hour max.), then I watched First Kiss, A little bit of The Game Plan, Alvin and the chipmunks, bring it on-in it to win it and Sydney White. The flight was busy and packed so I didn't get like two seats to myself. But the flight felt like it zoomed past. We has a three hour stop over at Singapore then a very long (4 hours.) flight to Beijing. This flight was EMPTY. I slept and had 3 seats to myself. I was knaked. I still am. We are having a KFC dinner and an early bed. (photos will come soon.)
Where I stayed:
Holiday Inn Beijing Lido (I think.)
