Another day, and another country entered. It was 'arrivederci' to Italy, and 'gutentag' to Austria!!

We had entered Austria by our first service stop, and it was beautiful, and you really did feel like you were in another country. The houses were different, the landscapes were different. We had our first oppotunity to try Germanic food at the first stop. Ghoulash or Schnitzel. I was just wanting some good hot soup, so that's what I had. A bowl of Ghoulash. It wasn't real stewy as you'd imagine, which is a good thing otherwise Rachel would have had my bowels to contend with on the bus for the rest of the day!! It was actually really yummy. Rach had schnitzel, I tried and it was also very tasty!!

On our way to Vienna we stopped at Chambrorg Palace (please forgive my spelling). This was the summer residence of the Hapsberg Family - who once ruled Austria. We only stopped here for about 30 minutes, but managed to get a couple of happy snaps for y'all at home!!

then we finally arrived into Vienna early evening. We stayed at the Event Hotel Pyramide. The conference centre had a big glass pyramid on top of it, and actually the rooms were really nice - big fluffy doonas, big fluffy pillows, nice bathrooms, and the place had a spa so a few of us went swimming!! Only a couple of people dared to go into the sauna - you had to be naked!!

The first night was a quiet one for me. About 15 of us went for Mexican at a nearby shopping centre, then headed back to the hotel. Some managed to stay at the bar till close, me, I just went to bed - I was offered some cans of harden up, but politely refused!!

The next day was spent in central Vienna. Oh my GOD! it was so cold today, and to be honest, I wasn't really dressed for the cold - my own fault. After a short walking tour through the Hofburg Palace - the Hapsbergs winter residence, a few of us decided to blow off walking around Vienna for the day, and go sit in the pub - the Australian Pub to be exact!! So we got in there at about 10.30am, Mia and I started on the Jim and cokes, Chef on the Tooheys. We left there about 12.30 or so to go to the Hotel Sacher for the famous sacher Torte. Had that and Apple Strudel, and a really awesome White Hot Chocolate, got a Hotel Sacher ashtray with a 5-finger discount, then headed straight back to the pub!! I know I know, I'm sure there's better ways to spend a day in Vienna, but to be honest, it was a really fun day hanging out with Mia and Chef.

After the pub we went to the Schnaps Museum (yes, only 1 p in schnaps here). It was cool actually. I didn't buy any, but they had some cool schanps which had gold in it. They also made absynthe and other liqueurs too. We got to try a few - some of them definitely cleared out the airways!!

We met the rest of the crew and headed back out to the hotel to get ready for our optional dinner that night - and a Mozart concert!! I didn't really dress up for this, I wanted to be like Britney used to be - about the music. Dinner was fun, and delicious!!

We headed up the road to the concert, and it was all a bit fancy really. The concert was actually very good. They had some opera singers and ballet dancers come out every few songs. The singers were very good, the dancers also good - but not brilliant, I guess that's the dancer coming out of me there.

Ali said that going to this concert would make the girls smarter, and boys would get more sex. To be honest, I didn't feel any smarter for going. And I don't think any of the boys will be getting laid more either.

There was something in Austria that was a small turning point for me. It was to still be a few days though before anything was done about it... ;-)

Another quiet night for me back at the hotel - trying to re-pack again before we headed off early the next morning bound for Munich!!

Enjoy the photos!!

L :-) xo

P.S. Whilst still in Austria on our way to Munich I had a 'Sound of Music' moment so have included that in this entry...
