So here we are again, the beginning of another trip overseas.  I am truly very grateful that my jobs sends me to places that are new to me, and where there are always nice things to do when I am not working.  Thanks work!

So, I had a ridiculously early start to the day, needing to be at Heathrow at 5am, ready for my 8am flight to Chicago.  The flight was remarkably on time and so we headed off.  I'd like to point out that American Airlines do the best breakfast I have ever had on a plane - full marks to them because plane breakfasts are usually pretty foul.  The flight was smooth and we touched down in Chicago on time.

Chicago airport is something else.  It is massive.  Almost a small town to itself.  I knew it was big, but when I had to catch a train to get my baggage it really hit home how big it was!  I re-checked in my bags and then headed off another few miles to the terminal and lounge where my flight to Denver was departing from.  En route I found a little shop and bought the obligatory postcard and souvenir!

I noticed that it was very dull in Chicago and the TVs were indicating that a tornado was on its way through Illinois.  I hoped that my plane would not be in its path!

My flight out of Chicago was 40 minutes late, which apparently is quite common for such a huge airport.  The flight was about 2hr15 minutes to Denver, so we got that over with fairly quickly.  Landing in Denver I noticed that this airport was massive too and again I needed a train to get out of the building.  I had reserved a SuperShuttle to take me to my hotel so I went and caught that straightaway - it took about 30 minutes to get to the hotel, which was pleasant.

The hotel's first impression was very good.  The staff were friendly, the entrance was welcoming and the check-in procedure was quick.  I went up to my room, which was really comfortable.  I had a big round bathtub and a comfy bed to rival my favourite Hilton ones.

As it was early evening I thought I ought to get out and have some food to keep myself awake, so I headed to the Hard Rock Cafe because I know that I can at least eat in there on my own and not be looked at funny!  So I had a HRC Burger and fries (nice and healthy then) and listened to the music before heading back to my hotel.

I went to bed about 10:30pm in the end, which was good for me.
