I am currently sat in Burger King in Los Angeles International Airport. It is 3am in the UK and quite frankly I am shattered. I have a 3 hour wait before my flight to Rarotonga departs so thought I might as well make a small entry!
The flight here was good. It left Heathrow on time and there was an empty seat between me and the other guy on my row. It suited us both well. He was an interesting chap - his name was Darryl and he came from Christchurch. He had set off from Switzerland in the early hours of the morning to get to London to get the flight to NZ - he will be completely wrecked by the time he gets home. He decided halfway through the flight he wanted to sleep on the floor, so in exchange for me getting my feet off the floor, I got the whole 3 chairs to lie on. Sorted! So I got some sleep.
The films on the plane were good. I'd highly recommend Opal Dreams and The Beat of Drums - fantastic films, both made me cry (I am so soft). The first was about a young girl who loses her two imaginary friends and the second about a boy in Africa orphaned due to the AIDS crisis. Fortunately the cabin was dark so I don't think anyone except NZ boy noticed my snivelling!!
My luggage, as seems to be the case lately, was the last piece to come off the carousel. And a sniffer dog was hanging around my hand luggage. Fortunately he didn't stay long enough for them to want to search it. They still took my shoes again though!!! And frisked me. Which meant so far I have been frisked twice today, at both airports. Let's hope the Rarotongans don't see me so suspiciously!
Anyway, I really don't have anything exciting to tell you about right now, so I will return to surfing the net!
