We arrived in Bariloche after spending a further day or two (upon return from Iguazu) in Buenos Aires, just in time for the opening of the winter skiing season. We weren't equipped for winter and it really was freezing. Ended up buying a bunch of gear and wearing all 12 layers on. But it was so worth it, the scenery is beautiful even during winter. Yet I can't imagine how gorgeous the mountains are during spring and summer.
There's a lot to do around Bariloche - for example cerro Campanario which has a 360 degree panoramic view; numerous hikes around the hills (you can get maps and all other information at the tourist desk in the center of town); of course the ski slopes for which Bariloche is renowned; the world famous hotel LLao LLao is located there; the lakes are all navigable and you can take many cruises around the islands and hike around them; and of course there are the black glaciers that can be visited in a day's trip (they're on the border with Chile).
