Where I stayed
Last few days we spent exploring Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Bel-Air (yep I even saw the house where they filmed Fresh Prince although you can‘t take pictures…boo!), Downtown LA, Santa Monica Beach….to name but a few.
Beverly Hills is one of a kind. They have such high expectations of you if you move here that you can even get fined if your garden is not up to standard. It costs on average $2 million dollars per house (excluding your approx $1million per annum tax) and that’s if you don’t live next door or even in the same road as a star (which can be quite difficult as its really not that big a place for the amount of celebrities that own property here!) If you live near to a star, you are looking at approximately $8-15 million houses, at least. Its just madness as the houses aren’t even that big or spectacular!! (The stars ones are of course!) But you can tell when you land in Beverly Hills
Santa Monica is as you would believe…..a beach! Being November its freezing here (they sold me sun, I want a refund!) so not many people line the sandy beach but normally you’d see the likes of body builders, Pamela Anderson (or the likes of) wanabies and the well known, skaters who just skate from one end to the other. But I did get to see one of the most famous landmarks of Santa Monica Beach…..the lifeguard huts! Yep these huts are the same ones that were in that much loved TV series….Baywatch!
Downtown Los Angeles is a completely different place to that of Hollywood Boulevard. It is what houses LA’s version of Chinatown, the Nokia and Staples Center (both famous in their own right) and of course Broadway. But Broadway isn’t what you’d imagine. It is lined with old unused theatres and looks like something straight out of an old movie
So that was it. 4 days was definitely enough. Apart from everything we’ve seen, you have the likes of Disney and Universal Studios should you wish but not on my agenda for this trip, so yeah, 4 days was enough to see it all. I’m still not 100% sure what to make of this place. Its nice to say I’ve been but would I come back? Probably not unless I made it big, which lets face it isn’t going to happen!! Oh and I have an apology to make. I did the one thing I said I probably wouldn’t do and took a tour of the celebrity houses. I guess that nosey gene got the better of me.
