..had a pleasant 4hr drive up the coast to Mount Desert Island - home of the coastal resort town of  Bar Harbor, which appears to have a symbiotic relationship w/ Acadia National Park

    found a reasonably priced campground
...settled for a quiet, no frills field
..soon after, took my e-bike for it's maiden spin down
a 1/4 mile path to Hadley beach..
we were unprepared for (what seemed like)
   a 20% precipitous grade..
however, it proved to be an effortless climb... guessing the passing traffic probably thought
   i was some kind of super-woman :)

i loove my bike! thanks isa :)

                                                          so... Wow!
..can't seem to come up w/ an adequate superlative to describe this phenomenon of nature
                                               collectively conserved as
                                                 *Acadia National Park..
                                                                                *definition - idyllic place

                   photo southershoreline_zpsb9289597.jpg

primarily, i love the raw beauty of contrasting ocean & spruce
that combined aura of salt & pine is like no other..

 the fascinating history..
45mi of carriage roads & bridges
       (built by Rockefeller)
     are a bike-rider's delight

                                                                                                 the spectacular vistas...
                                                                                           at 1530 ft, Cadillac Mountain
is the highest mtn on the east coast

                                                                                                             and the
                                                                                                        endless granite

so many enchanting islands to explore..
at low tide you can walk across to Bar Island
we were rewarded w/ a great view of Bar Harbor town

                                                      home to boutiques &
                                     award winning restaurants

there's even a coastal path to take you on an easy hike
                ....should you over-indulge

                                                         rocky coastlines...

one of my favorite places on the island is a secluded pebble beach - Little Hunter's Beach
                photo littlehunterbeach_zps6f569026.jpg
Little Hunter Brook empties onto the beach - check out it's pebbles

                                                 several lighthouse can be seen
i even don't mind the creeping fog.. it conjures up mysterious tales

Egg Rock Island Lighthouse                              Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse

despite being blessed w/ mostly wet weather during our stay here..
there's something quite remarkable about misty rain & jagged rocks
esp. when a lighthouse or two gets thrown into the mix..
and i got to wear my wellies :)

ultimately, all my senses were tantalized & satisfied..
undeniably one of my fav n.p's!

                           a void has been present..
the girls have been noticeably missing..
this is our first real trip w/o them & we miss not being able see it through their eyes

guessing it will take some adjusting

heading north up the coastline tomorrow
