. It's all a bit dull to go to places like that because it's boring compared to Japanese stuff. Oh and there was a HUUGE queue for Krispy Kreme doughnuts! At least I look less out of place there though! Wandered for aaages, and, ready for this? Got interviewed by Japanese TV! It was dead embarrassing because they hardly spoke any English, but they asked me to draw anime (and I couldn't), think it was for a university station or something. At least I'll never have to watch it!! Ate kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi), which was 130 yen a dish!! So incredibly cheap. And I ate it even though I was full from everything I'd stuffed myself with before. Made friends with a girl selling bubble tea, she was so nice, and she even drew a picture for me. I've made a few more contacts today as well :) was late for my meeting (surprise surprise), but my group are cool, there's a girl the same age as me (Carli) from Canada, and my roomie (Chantelle) is originally a Brummie! Small world or what? I think I'll get on really well with them. Tour leader (Kit) is very knowledgeable too, and fun. He took us to see Osaka's nightlife, in the Dotonburi, which is even crazier than daytime, if that's possible. There are flashing lights everywhere. and I prayed at a small, tucked away shrine. Decided to eat Osaka okonomiyaki, so I stuffed myself silly with this amaazing pancake/pizza thing (video on that). Urgh, I feel ill again though. But even though I've left out LOADS of stuff, check out is 9am tomorrow for the monk's monastery, so I must
learn from my previous mistakes. Night!!
Oh and for mum, dad and tom, i'm so so sorry I haven't been able to contact you, but kit's sent you an email message on his his iphone to say I'm well. Also, I'm taking tonnes of videos and pictures, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to post them up. Love and miss you loads! xxxx
The day started kind of disasterously. Was woken by a call from front desk saying that it was 11.15am and I was late checking out. I'd overslept by about 4 hours!!! My alarm hadn't gone off (or I was too comotose from jetlag), and I'd losed my window shutters so in the morning there was no sunlight!! In blind panic I grabbed my stuff and set off to my next hotel, Osaka Namba Washington Hotel Plaza. I had to pay a surcharge AND quite a bit for phoning home, but I'll have to be more careful in future. Oh dear. In the next hotel, I got a message from my tour leader to meet at 6.30pm, so I left my stuff there. Turns out there's an issue with an overlap with my rail passes, so that's bothering me, I might have lost some money. Gap SHOULD give me some money back, but I bet they won't. Hmmm. It was rainy but still very warm. Good thing I had my kasa (brolly). Went to an udon noodle place called Nishi-ya, and had an amazing udon with tempura and veg bowl, sooo oishii (tasty)! Loved it. Also found somewhere called America-mura with all the western shops like Apple and H&M etc
