After a really great 4 days in Torquay, with a 'Superheros' fancy dress party at the hostel on my last night (unfortunately I forgot to take any photos), yesterday I came to Apollo Bay, a similar but slightly more laid-back town 2 hours drive further along the Great Ocean Road.  Straight away that afternoon, I found two 'Staff Wanted' notices in cafe windows and 2 hours after my arrival I'd got myself a trial at one of them, which is tomorrow, and the other place is forwarding my resume to the manager - so all looking positive so far.  That day happened to be the annual 'Victorian Lifesaving Championships' on the town's beach so my friend Katharina and I spent the afternoon watching the rowing, swimming and paddleboarding competitions.  I don't think I've ever seen so many brown tanned people or such ridiculous swimming hats (which they all managed to carry off brilliantly!).
Today I got myself a bank account and some charity shop smart-ish clothes for tomorrow and went on a walk to the place where Katharina saw a big snake yesterday, but despite my keeping a very careful eye out (if I did see one I wanted it to be from a safe distance) all I saw was horse poo.  After seeing a grey koala-shaped blur from the bus window yesterday I now stare intently into every eucalyptus tree I pass but again no luck so far!
