Hi There All! Well we left the crazy busy city of Bangkok and headed out to a place called Kanchanburi, about 2 hours out of Bangkok. Some of you might know that's it's home to the actual "Bridge Over The River Kwai".
Bridge Over the River Kwai

Upon arriving we checked into a funky little guest house called Jolly Frog. It had a wicked chill out area/garden with hammocks etc and located right on the river's edge (all very quaint) for lessthan 3 quid.. The area seemed pretty quiet, however there were a large selection of restaurants and bars, all really cheap and Dan was most pleased that Pie and Mashed Potato were offered on several menus!! We spent our first full day, looking around the WW2 museum and learning the history behind the tragic events that took place in 1944. Many allied pow's and other prisoners died in horrible conditions whilst laying the - Thailand to Burma - rail track. Following from that we went to visit the actual cemetary/memorial grounds for the p.o.w's. It was quite surreal to see thousands and thousands of plaques and headstones in front of you, line after line with the majority being British soliders.

On a lighter note, whilst we were in this area we booked a really good value day trip that included visiting a National Park with 8 natural waterfalls/pools, that you could take a dip in whilst trekking up to the top!
Us after taking a dip!
In the afternoon we did a wicked elephant trek through some rivers and even got a chance to ride bare back. (This was actually pretty scary!!! it's hard work trying to grip your legs around an elephant whilst treking up little hills!)
Dan Bare back!!!

The trip also included some bamboo rafting through the local rivers, this was a really good end to the day as we just sat back and relaxed in the sun! All in all we had a really amazing day.....

Next stop was Ayutthaya, Thailand's original capital city, we planned to hang around there for a few of days, however after arriving we soon realised the city had very little to keep us there! The city has many old ruins which are worth a visit, which form part of a World Heritage area. We spent a day looking around the ruins and even learning some history behind them! However that's basically all there is to see so we decided to head out of there after a couple of nights. One thing this place does have though is many crazy, mad dogs, that have a tendency to chase you down the road trying to bite you! Dan was having great frun spraying the little rascals with water! Very Interesting place!...

Anyhow after just about two months in Thailand, the end was nearing! We have had a great time although it's been hard work having chill out on the many beaches and of course Lou deciding which bikini to wear each day! We never got to see much of North thailand in the end we decided to chill out and save the North for another trip..... !!

Next stop is India and we are really looking forward to getting there. We fly into a place called Trivandrum which is South India and from there we will work our way up North over the next few months. We are also hoping to fit in Nepal and maybe a little holiday to Sri Lanka!

Hope you are all well and enjoying 2007. Not long and those of you back home will be seeing us ugly muts!

Email soon lots of love x x x
