. They were fantastic. A top experience was the Maid of the Mist boat trip (sure you've all seen/heard of it),which allows getting up close to the falls. It was only $13 and would have paid a lot more. We got classy ponchos to keep dry, but was this was no fun, so Dan pulled off the hood and got soaked. It was so loud next to the falls and could barley see through the cold, misty water drops.
After all this excitement we grabbed another pricey beer. Not a cheap luxury in Canada! This finished us off. The 8 days of non-stop moving around had just about done us in. But after a good nights sleep, we hit Toronto again. This time Lou found us a super dooper bargain x2!! We got cheap tickets to a brewery tour. It was called 'Steam Whistle Brewery'. Its a fairly new beer brewery, located in an old steam engine factory. As per normal we expected just one, or maybe 2 free samples. But before we knew it we were getting the stuff forced on us (No complaints from Lou thats for sure!!). We couldn't believe our luck of cheapies we'd been getting! In our case we transformed the old saying... 'We could have a piss up in a brewery!!' God i'm funny.
Stumbling out of the brewery tour, we passed the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball stadium. Lou had been informed on our beer tour, that it is sometimes possible to get $2 seats for the game??! We just needed to ask!!... Lou in her best sober voice went to the kiosk and said.
. 'have you got anymore 2 dollar Tuesday's please?' I was hiding, but low and behold she produced tickets for the game, against the Baltimore Oriesos, for a total of four dollars (£2ish). So a tip for you travellers wanting a cheap night. Go and ask for cheapo seats. The game was good,if not a tad lengthy. The Blue jays won 7-3! Wooh wooh. Our final night is here, with a change of hostel. The Global Backpackers is said to be a bit of a 'party place.' It turned out however, that by 10pm, we were ready for bed! The other guests had different ideas. The loud party went on till 2am. This is when we realised we were getting old. We were in bed complaining about our fellow, party going travellers. Oh well! Guess we got a year to recover. Its a early start for a flight to Winnipeg. We gave in to to going overland and have opted for our first internal flight. To be honest though, it was just as cheap as train and bus and was about 10hrs quicker! Check Air Canada for the deals! Here comes another hour time difference! Its so big this country! Well,we'll be back soon for more updates Take care all..... (now 25th)
With the prospect of having a 6 hr and fairly expensive bus journey the following day (from Ottawa to Toronto), we were chilling out in the Ottawa jail hostel.... That is when the stroke of luck came. Having heard our dis-approval of the bus cost, a lone Canadian woman staying in the hostel, became our very generous saviour. She was driving back to Toronto the next day and offered us a lift... Bargain! The journey was good and we all shared lous gourmet cheese sandwiches. Oh and can't forget the extra special ingredient of red onion! The journey was better because we only had to give the woman $20!! $100 cheaper than bus. We checked the city out and then another jammy event occurred on the second day. This led to our best day of the trip so far and a great experience for life!! We bumped into a French couple who we met in Ottawa jail the day before. They had a car hired and offered us to go with them to Niagra falls!!! Its 130km away and well worth the visit! We were overwhelmed by the falls
